Item Description
Swiss hematite "iron roses" are often considered to be the finest representations in the world from the standpoint of form, luster and sheer beauty. This rich and showy plate hosts numerous lightly corroded, sharp, lustrous, beautiful, layered, metallic silvery-grey "roses" of hematite measuring up to 9 mm across. Ex Eugene Carmichael Collection and comes with a 1960s-70s era Lidstrom's label. MINDAT does not list a Monte Sella locality for the St. Gotthard Massif. This plate looks like it's from Fibbia, in Ticino. $75 was expensive in those days!
