Item Description

This is one of the most well known Alpine localities, right on the Italian/Swiss border. It has produced a plethora of some of the most distinctive and desirable Alpine species extant. Hematite "iron roses" are some of the most highly sought after Hematites in the world, especially from the Alps. Rarely does a metallic mineral inspire such awe as the famous "eisenrosen" or "rosa di ferro" do, and they are valued as much as any other treasure from these famous mountains. This particular specimen hosts several small, sharp, lustrous, beautiful, layered, metallic silvery-grey "roses" of Hematite measuring up to 5 mm across and sitting on matrix. Good shape overall, and one of the few Hematite "iron roses" that I have offered from this classic locality.
