Item Description

An old-time, sculptural and aesthetic cluster of sharp hematite eisenrose or iron rose crystals with mirror-bright luster from the historic Pizzo Lucendro of the St. Gotthard Massif of Switzerland. This superb old-timer was in the Carl Bosch, Smithsonian and Dr. Gary Hansen Collections. Carl Bosch was a very prominent European collector who lived from 1874-1940. The Smithsonian purchased his collection in 1965, which numbered 25,000 mineral specimens! The ORIGINAL BOSCH LABEL and Bosch label number of 7177 indicates an old piece from his collection, prior to about 1910! Its rich on both sides with crystals of high quality - he never collected junk. Outstanding provenance and quality and an uncommon Swiss location. Hansen priced the piece at $2750. I was willing to blow it out for $1250 as its from an old flat I had lost track of, from my purchase of his collection in 2005. It is MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!
