Item Description
Striking well crystallized Hematite "iron rose" or "eisenrose" with a bright, metallic luster and fine delicate looking structure from one of the two most famous locations in Switzerland. Fibbia material is generally older and less common than that from Cavradi. This incredible natural growth occurs in a few worldwide locations but most notably in Switzerland where Swiss "iron roses" set the standard. This "rose" has an incredible layered form of hexagonal blades of Hematite extending out 1.2 cm from the center. There is also a smaller secondary "rose" (1.1 cm in width) penetrating the side of the main crystal. This is an impressive example of an alpine Hematite with a top notch sculptural form! Ex. Jack Halpern Collection No. 1634.
