Item Description

An old-time Hematite "iron rose" from Brumado, Bahia, Brazil (not the more typically seen Ouro Preto specimens or those from Diamantina) that dates back to the 1970s. The piece features a few attractive "roses" composed of tightly intergrown platy metallic grey-black crystals, free of matrix. The largest individual "rose" measures 3.1 cm across. The piece is largely crystallized on all sides, though there are a few rough spots and areas of attachment. Still a very good example of these notably hard to find "eisenrose" specimens from a locality that it not typically known for its Hematites.
