The Orange River area of Namibia has produce some excellent hematite-included quartz specimens and this a dramatic and fascinating large example from the Charlie Key dealer stock. An impressive field of lustrous and translucent, burnt-orange crystals aesthetically rests on the massive quartz matrix. The imposing large 6.4 cm tapered crystal has fantastic stepped-growth faces with innumerable smaller crystals, like turrets on a castle. The surprising back of the large crystal shows, that the second-generation hematite-included quartz crystals did not fully envelop the underlying quartz crystal. Unusual and outstanding quartz with just a bit of termination bruising, which is certainly only a modest detraction. Very choice and uncommon large material.
