Hematite-included Quartz (Charlie Key)

Item Description

Rich brick-red hematite is included beneath a secondary overgrowth of water-clear quartz on this impressive large plate of quartz crystals from the Orange River. The striking large quartz crystal is 5.3 cm. Very interestingly, something (the green chlorite?) inhibited the growth of both the hematite and secondary quartz on the back sides of several of the crystals. Strange chemistry here and certainly fascinating. Showy and excellent material from the Charlie Key dealer stock.
