Hematite-included Quartz (Charlie Key)

Item Description

Flashy hematite-included and iron oxide-coated quartz crystals form a striking and colorful plate from the Orange River. Bright brick-red hematite, mostly in the terminations, has a nifty overgrowth of secondary water-clear quartz. The orange iron oxide coatings on the prism faces add pizzazz to this very interesting piece, with unusual variable chemistry. The bruising to the crystals on the back of the plate is noted, but this remains an impesssive and colorful example of the varietal from the Charlie Key dealer stock.
