Hematite-included Calcite (old classic)

Item Description

A classic and sculptural large old-time "pincushion" calcite from the famous Stank Mine. Many of the very glassy, gemmy, nailhead scalenohedrons have preferential classic and desirable rust-red hematite inclusions for which the mine is famous. The mine was only active from 1871-1901, but still produced some very fine calcites of this typical style. Essentially pristine, with very few, hard-to-see bruised crystals. Valued at $1000-1250.
