Item Description
Santa Eulalia calcites are world famous and this is a dramatic and sculptural large, upright, two-sided specimen from the El Potosi Mine. Sharp, lustrous and translucent, calcite rhombs are included with hematite on a mounded matrix covered with an earlier generation of smaller crystals. The glassy, gem-like crystals reach about 1.8 cm on this side. The back side has far different chemistry, as there are fewer large rhombs and the first generation calcites have NO hematite tinting. The impressive large piece is in great shape, as the front is pristine. The attachment point on the back has minimal impact on this excellent large piece. Classic Santa Eulalia calcite.
