Hematite (good quality)

Some of the world's finest Hematite specimens are found at the Wessels Mine. This wonderful miniature features a 2.7 cm scalenohedron of Hematite with sharp, metallic, lustrous / splendent metallic faces and the classic steel-grey color sitting on manganese-bearing matrix. The piece is in good shape, but there are a few impression in the crystal where Calcite once grew and has mostly dissolved away. The luster is very good for the species, and these specimens have disappeared from the market in recent years, and certainly are worth picking up for anybody who likes metallic minerals.
