Item Description

An attractive miniature specimen featuring fairly thick, metallic, bladed hexagonal crystals of Hematite measuring up to 3.2 cm free of matrix. The piece has a wonderful patina with multicolor iridescence on the surface. I love the form and thickness of the main Hematite crystal, and the piece sits beautifully without the aid of a base or clay. Very attractive in person, hard to photograph. There are some contacts on the edges, so the piece is not pristine, but it's a noteworthy and eye-catching piece that is of a good crystallized quality from Bouse. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7145). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
