Item Description

Mineral specimens were generally very uncommon from the Pea Ridge Mine, the last operating underground US iron mine, closed in 2001. This attractive cluster of calcite scalenohedrons is preferentially coated with hematite. The back side of the piece reveals underlying lustrous and translucent calcite. Complete all-around, the bit of noted periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction to this very showy and uncommon calcite
