Hematite and Andradite Garnet

Hematites coated with Andradite Garnets from Wessels have become a classic combination. The Hematite here is 2 cm x 1.8 cm, and it is lustrous and sharp. The back and sides are coated with deep brownish-red Andradite Garnets that range from micro size up to perhaps 1 mm. The Garnets are actually very lustrous and sparkly, but it does not pick up well in the photos, perhaps because of the brigtness of the Hematite. An excellent, aesthetic thumbnail from a famous location. One of the very few such good "helmet" garnet/hematites we have seen for sale. valued $250
