Item Description

An impressive and VERY RARE large pseudomorph combination from the famous mines at Dalnegorsk. Hematite has replaced a dense diverging cluster of sharp, terminated, orthorhombic elongated Ilvaite crystals, to about 4.0 cm. The broken ilvaite pseudo highlights the casted form of the crystal. Translucent quartz points, to 3.8 cm, are attractively scattered in the interior and around the edges of this highly unusual pseudo. Sparkly, preferential, secondary hematite on both the ilvaites and quartz crystals adds a surreal aspect to this sculptural mounded plate. Every rotation to this 360-degree pseudo presents a distinctively different perspective. Ex Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection and valued by him at $800. A fascinating rare large combination must for the locality or pseudomorph collector.
