Outstanding, and hard-to-find, Hematite from the Casa de Pedra Mine in Brazil. This piece is composed of two intergrown, pseudocubic Hematite crystals that are sharp, highly splendent, and, of course, metallic. Adding to the great aesthetics are beveled edges and corners that are twice modified by the octahedron. Not only are the corners cut off in classic fashion, but they are finely tiered, as well. Just stunning on close examination. This is about as lustrous as it gets for the locality and, honestly, the species in general. An old classic from Brazil, found during the 1960s era of mining and seldom seen today. Previously in the collection of Richard A. Blackman. A stunning miniature, valued highly perhaps but certainly over $800! These are old, rare, and unique in style. ex George Elling Collection.
