Item Description

Hematite is one of the most well known metallic species for collectors, and the crystals from Itabira, Brazil are some of the best quality examples in the modern era of mineral collecting. This piece is a very attractive and impressive, sharp, notably well-formed, blocky modified rhombohedral / scalenohedral specimen of silvery-grey metallic Hematite sitting in minor crystallized Hematite matrix. It's not the typical "iron rose" that people associate with this locality. There are a few "flea bites" on the piece, but overall, it's a very nice specimen with a stout, robust crystal - not common for Hematite.
