The famous N'Chwaning mines have produced world-class hematite specimens and this is a very showy and excellent miniature with striking sculptural quality. The super-sharp, brilliant, metallic-gray, intergrown crystals are accented with well-striated and un-striated faces. This piece becomes special because of the striking sharp notch on one side with the crystal forms. Periphery wear is noted, but this remains a singular and highly representative example of the species and locale with multiple display possibilities.
