Item Description

Brilliant metallic-gray luster on this impressive large and sculptural plate of densely intergrown, blocky hematite crystals. The crystals reach 1.6 cm. Striking, striated faces really add pizzazz to this excellent piece from the famous and ancient silver mining district - Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. 787 grams or pounds 1.7 mass. The piece has several fine display views and there is a 1983 date on the back. Specimens are seldom on the market, as French collectors value these highly. Rare and unusual, from an old collection.
