Item Description

The Hematites from the N'Chwaning Mines are among the finest examples of the species in the ever found. The top crystals are some of the largest, most lustrous representations of the species extant. This particular specimen features a few sharp, metallic, silvery-grey colored modified trigonal crystals of Hematite measuring up to 1.6 cm, sitting on matrix The front faces of the Hematite are very lustrous (splendent) with the high mirror like reflectiveness, while other faces have more of a chatoyant / matte luster to them. Although there is a bit of irregular growth and slight surface etching, I can't find any actual damage with the naked eye. Very hard to photograph / video, but better in person when you look at it closely. A nice overall piece of these famous Hematites, which in my mind are as good as anything from the Swiss Alps, Brazil or anywhere else in the world.
