Helvine on Quartz (rare combo)

Item Description

Two, sharp, tetrahedral, moderately lustrous, brownish-black helvine crystals, to 8 mm, are aesthetically embedded on the side of a quartz crystal on this sculptural and impressive large cluster of quartz crystals from Jinlong Hill. The numerous quartz points, up to about 6.5 cm long are mostly transparent, with some translucent crystals and have satin luster faces. The helvine crystals may be partially pseudomorphed by manganese oxides. All of the major upright quartz crystals are pristine and the noted basal periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction. Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection, a well-known German collector who amassed a world-wide collection of over 6000 pieces. The piece displays well without aid. A very dramatic, display worthy and uncommon 360-degree combination specimen from the locale. The artistic central quartz crystal spray with the helvines is noteworthy.
