Item Description

A hard to find specimen of Helvine from the area around Tvedalen in Norway. There are several quarries in the area where Helvine is found, so I don't know specifically in which one the piece was found. Tiny, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, tetragonal golden colored crystals of this elusive beryllium manganese silicate are nestled in among white Natrolite on Analcime matrix. We've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10425). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful micro specimen of this obscure material.
