Item Description
Hedenbergite is one of the iron-bearing minerals called clinopyroxenes and this is a large, well formed crystal associated with several dark pink Fluorapatite crystals. The main Hedenbergite crystal measure just over two inches in length and about two inches in width and is a uniform dark green. It is nicely terminated at one end and the other end is terminated, although somewhat obscured by a cluster of half a dozen, randomly oriented Hedenbergites. One side of the big crystals has over a dozen, subhedral prismatic, rose colored Fluorapatite crystals from 4 mm to 3 cm. Several localities in Quebec and Ontario are known for their Hedenbergite and other large Pyroxene Group minerals. A large and important sharp crystal for this locality.
