A superb and aesthetic pseudomorph of nubby green hedenbergite after a fantastic intergrown cluster of large, very sharp ilvaite crystals. The famous mines at Dalnegorsk are renowned for their pseudomorphs and this is an exceptional and rare example. Complete all around, too! The stepped parallel-growth crystals with the angled, DT crystal on the back really set this super piece off. This pristine and complete all-around rarity was formerly in the collection of Dr. Ed David. His unique number is on the bottom. Ed was Science Advisor to President Nixon and assembled several world-class collections. The piece is illustrated in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale. Ex Wouter van Tichelen Collection.
