Item Description

A rare, rich and aesthetic combination from this well-known Tuscany mine. This rare half geode has an outer rim of black ilvaite, golden chalcopyrite and bronzy pyrrhotite. A nifty radial band of highly lustrous and chatoyant, pretty two-toned green, sprays of hedenbergite blades follows. The solid core is filled mostly with pyrrhotite, a bit of chalcopyrite and very little ilvaite. Outstanding and rare combination material from the Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained in a 1972 trade from the Niccolini Collection.
