Item Description
Hedenbergite is a classic species from this famous island, noted for superb green hedenbergite-included quartz "prases" and fine andradite and ilvaite specimens. This is a very sculptural cluster of strikingly stepped-growth, lustrous and translucent, olive-green columnar prisms. This cool specimen reminds me of the columnar basalt jointing of the Devil's Tower or Giants Causeway. Very nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of bruising to a few crystals at the top, with is certainly only a modest detraction to this very fine and artistic piece.
