Beautiful rich blue, tiny gemmy Hauyne crystals are sprinkled on the vesicular pumice thumbnail matrix. Numerous localities in the famous Laach Lake Volcanic Complex area produce very fine Hauyne specimens, a Sodalite Group species. Famous Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan is actually Hauyne. The matrix also hosts numerous complementary contrasting glassy Sanidine crystals, a Feldspar Group species. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2079 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017).
