Item Description
A 2.5 cm, unusually elongated, well-terminated, classic deep royal-blue lazurite crystal is aesthetically set in the contrasting marble matrix on this aesthetic miniature from the famous and ancient Type Locality. A section of an UNUSUALLY large pyrite crystal on the back is a nice bonus. Lazurite/Lapis Lazuli is no longer considered a separate species, but a variety of Hauyne, a Sodalite Group member. Classic and excellent older material from an East Coast collection and comes with a Walker's Minerals label located on the Avenue of the Americas in New York City probably dating from the 1940s to 60s. The elongated crystal form is noteworthy.
