Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Haüyne (pronounced (How-EEN), a member of the Sodalite group, from the Biachella Valley, a small area only about 1 km in length, that likes about 35 north of Rome. These specimens are virtually unseen in today's market, and this piece is a good example of the material featuring a few sharp, well-formed, oddly octahedral (most Haüyne crystals are cubic or dodecahedral in habit) crystals of a soft powdery blue color measuring up to 7 mm, on volcanic matrix. Keep in mind that a lot of Haüyne crystals from classic localities in places in Italy or Germany are often micros, so to have crystals that you can clearly see with the naked eye is rare. A cool locality specimen for any fan of rare minerals or European/Italian localities.
