Item Description

Some of the finest crystals of Hausmannite ever found are those from the Kalahari Manganese Field in South Africa. This piece is an attractive small cabinet sized piece hosting dozens of sharp, lustrous, black pseudo-octahedral (bipyramdial tetragonal) crystals of Hausmannite measuring up to about 3 mm associated with tabular silvery colored crystals of Celestine measuring up to 8 mm on massive black manganese-bearing matrix. You don't see nearly as many of these on the market versus 10+ years ago. More than just a black rock, this is an attractive display specimen of this fairly hard to find manganese oxide, with an uncommon association. From the collection of R. D. Mushlitz.
