Tetragonal, hausmannite microcrystals are nicely sprinkled on the pretty, pastel-pink, rhodochrosite rhombs that line the sculptural vug in matrix on this very rare specimen from the iron mines of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The rhodos have nice luster. Michigan rhodochrosite is rare from any locality on the market. The Cannon Mine closed in 1963. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
