Item Description

Dozens of finely-crystallized, pagoda shaped, black Hausmannites sit atop a layer of reddish-orange Andradite Garnet with associated Sturmanite (according to the label) in the center of the specimen. I don't think it's Sturmanite, because it fluoresces pink like Calcite, and Sturmanite doesn't fluoresce, but I'm copying what's on the label for posterity. The largest Hausmannite measures 5 mm across. Good quality overall, except the Sturmanite(?)/Calcite is damaged in areas. This piece comes from an old East Coast collection and is accompanied by a label from recently deceased New York Mineral dealer, Larry Conklin.
