Item Description
One of the finest Hausmannites that I have offered in the auction. The tetragonal pyramids are razor-sharp, lustrous, and striated. One of the truly great things about the specimen is that one of the crystals is actually elongated (almost stacked) created a fantastic pagoda-like crystal 1.2 cm tall. Also, most of the pyramidal-looking crystals retain their individuality - they are not intergrown like you see on many Hausmannites. This is an exceptional specimen, not only for the quality of the Hausmannite crystals but the fine combination that you find it in. It is likely that the fine pinkish-brown microcrystals are Andradite Garnet, making a rare and unique association. The pics are good, but the piece is even better in person. Hausmannite is one of the sparkliest, most brilliant of metallic minerals.
