Item Description
A classic (it's from the Type Locality, after all), old-time specimen of lustrous, pearlescent Harmotome crystals to 1.1 cm, on matrix, from St Andreasberg in the Harz Mts. of Germany. Harmotome is a rare zeolite mineral and these bone-white, euhedral crystals are sharp and attractive. New ones came out relatively recently in the late 1990s, but the older ones, to my mind, are better as they have sharp, more individual crystals as you see here. A fine, important specimen, and even better in person. Originally purchased at Col. Yorke's sale in 1875 and handled by Lazard Cahn, this was once in the collection of Sir Warington W. Smyth. Old label included. Priceless.
