Item Description

Hanksite is an ultra rare, hexagonal, sulfate carbonate found in lacustrine evaporite deposits. This is a striking, very rare, mounded CABINET nodule of translucent, sharply terminated crystals. The lustrous, greenish crystals are up to 5.0 cm and are included with an unknown material. These superbly symmetrical crystals are from the Type Locality - Searles Lake in California. Exceptionally rare in specimens of this size and quality. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of bruising. Amazing for such a soft mineral! Ex Al Ordway Collection and self-collected by him on and off over 50 years of living in southern California. Value of such a large rarity???
