Item Description

A classic single floater Hanksite crystal from Searles Lake. Hanksite was named in 1885 after Henry G. Hanks in recognition of his service as the first man in California to serve as the state mineralogist. This is a fairly sharp, well-formed, GEMMY doubly terminated, translucent "floater" crystal with typical matte luster and a soft golden color. It honestly looks better in person, but is still a nice example of this well-know material PLEASE NOTE: these crystals can sometimes be coated with mineral oil to preserve them from dehydration in humid environments, as they will dissolve when exposed to water or damp air. It is best to keep them in a cool, dry environment.
