Item Description

Hambergite is a rare accessory mineral in gem pegmatites and is uncommon from these famous tourmaline pegmatites at Anjanabonoina. This sharply terminated, moderately lustrous, rust-brown, tabular crystal is complete and closely resembles a Brush Collection at Yale University specimen shown in the MINDAT Photo Gallery of this very important locale. The locality was mispelled as "Anjanabonsana" in Lacroix (1909). Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this at $300, more than 10 years ago. Ex Lazard Cahn Collection, a prominent Colorado dealer who died in 1940. Rare old-time material.
