Item Description

Known primarily for its wonderful tourmaline specimens, the Himalaya Mine also produced a plethora of much rarer species like this rare beryllium borate: a hambergite specimen. The piece has a satiny luster and possesses a creamy white color. This remarkable crystal is euhedral, entirely translucent and the crystal form is very interesting and sculptural. Altogether, it is a very significant San Diego rarity but moreover it is a good hambergite even by worldwide standards. I traded this out of the personal stash of Bill Larson, former owner/operator of the Himalaya Mine. Valued at $400-900 high to low depending on if folks appreciate how important this is!
