Item Description

OLD-TIME, VERY RARE and SUPERLATIVE large crystallized Halite from this evaporite deposit in the salt pools of Death Valley! The impressive large 360-degree, pristine specimen is composed of dramatic, densely intergrown, waxy lustre, translucent halite cubes. Compound crystal clusters reach 2.0 cm. There are NO examples of any species in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale. The 8.0 cm cloth label on the back has a 1898 date on it! Ex Lee Burnett Collection of Morrison, Colorado. Rare, perhaps UNIQUE OLD halite from Pluto Springs in Death Valley! A MUST for the species or locality collector!
