Halite (RARE New York locale)

Item Description

Halite is EXTREMELY RARE from any of the famous zinc/talc mines in the Balmat area. This is a water-clear, well crystallized cube with waxy luster. It appears, that only one of the large faces is a smooth cleavage, with the rest of the faces being rippled. The bit of corner bruising and contacting is certainly only a modest detraction to this important New York rarity. The label says the piece is from the Fowler Orebody.
