Item Description
Halite is RARE from Owens Lake, but this striking and very colorful large plate is from a small NEW FIND there by an old collector friend of ours. These fantastic rich pink, incredibly hoppered, lustrous halite cubes have amazing patterns and reach 3.7 cm. The underlying matrix is trona. Owens Lake is better known for outstanding trona specimens, a rare carbonate found in saline lakes and their evaporites. The symmetry and form of these cubes is striking. They look like Modern Art! This outstanding and rare piece resembles pink halite from the Searles Lake evaporate deposits in San Bernardino County, but it's not. Ghostly white fluorescence. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
