Item Description
Some of the most well-known examples of Halite are the iconic specimens from Searles Lake in California. These pieces are some of the largest and most attractive specimens of the species ever found. This cabinet display specimen features fine quality, very sharp, beautiful, nearly colorless cubes measuring up to a XXXXXXXX cm on edge sitting on a layer of greyish colored Trona, with an additional layer of very pale pink Halite on the underside. It's not common to find such smooth well-formed cubes from this locality, as a lot of Halites from Searles Lake have a defined skeletal or "hoppered" growth. If you look closely, you can see some slight "phantoms" inside the Halite crystals, for a nice touch. This piece has VERY little damage, as nearly all of the crystals are pristine. The piece is incredibly three-dimensional and looks great from several angles. A fantastic display piece of this classic material. PLEASE NOTE: Halite is water soluble (it's crystallized table salt after all), so pieces like this need to be kept in a dry environment as much as possible.
