Item Description
This rare and excellent specimen is from the most famous, and possibly the oldest underground salt mine in the world. It features a sculptural, arborescent cluster of intergrown, almost transparent cubes of halite measuring up to 2.2 cm. The large, blocky crystals are attached to a "treetrunk" of smaller halite cubes. The color is a light off-white and the specimen has a satiny or matte finish. It is truly classic for the locality, and very visually impressive as well. Most of us don't think of salt as a collectable mineral, but when it is this good, it really is such a thing. Complete all-around, front and back. A trivial bit of edgewear is noted on the large cube. SUPER orange fluorescence!!
