Gyrolite with Fluorapophyllite-(K) and Calcite

Gyrolite is not a zeolite species, it's more zeolite-adjacent, but it's often found in the same environments as zeolite minerals. The Deccan Trap in India has produced the finest examples of Gyrolite ever seen, most of which were found 20+ years ago. This is a superb small cabinet / large miniature display specimen featuring good sized, cream colored groups of Gyrolite measuring up to 2.3 cm across, which play host to little translucent colorless prisms of Fluorapophyllite-(K) sitting on attractive smoky colored vitreous crystals of Calcite. The display side of the specimen is in superb condition, no damage that I can find, and the balance/arrangement makes for a notably eye-catching piece. A truly fine and desirable Gyrolite specimen, rarely seen in today's market. Valued $1,500.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#2 N), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
