Gyrolite on Druzy Quartz

Item Description

Four gyrolite balls are attractively set on the sculptural small cabinet basalt matrix covered with druzy quartz from the famous and extinct Malad Quarry near Mumbai (Bombay), India. The dominating large hemisphere is 2.5 cm across. Light olive-green, translucent bladed crystals comprise the balls. The quarry produced a wealth of very fine basalt related mineral species from the 1970s into the 1990s, when urban development caused the quarry to close.
