Item Description
A rare and excellent pair of sharp gypsum crystals from an obscure English locality. Both floater crystals are transparent and are surprisingly in great shape for such a soft mineral, with only trivial rubbing. The fishtail twin is most dramatic, with the large crystal being strikingly bent. The label dates from 1931 to 1981, but the crystals are probably much older, by the old label on the single crystal. Rare old material, possibly from the old clay pits in the vicinity of Shotover Hill, Headington. From a museum collection.
