Item Description

A classic example of the famous "hour glass" inclusions of golden-brown sand inside of colorless Gypsum from the Great Salt Plains State Park in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma. This crystal is a complete "floater" with no point of attachment that is crystallized all the way around. It's unusual due to the fact that it's a bit more wide and "stubby" than we're used to seeing for these specimens, so the "hour glass" inside didn't completely form, and it's tapered on one end only. My favorite part of the piece is that it's not completely included with sand, so you can backlight it and see the gemmy edges. Classic material from Oklahoma.
