Item Description

Well-formed gypsum specimens are very rare from this famous Silurian-aged, Lockport Dolomite, road metal quarry, renowned for fabulous, water-clear, aqua-blue, fluorite cubes. The sculptural, transparent cleavage, jauntily attached to the dolomite also has an area of brown asphaltum included in the gypsum and coating the adjacent dolomite. The base has been sawed to enhance the display angle, please note. Rare and seldom available in this aesthetic combination quality. Ex Schlichter Collection.
