Item Description
Mineral specimens of any type are rare from this obscure, large marine basin, that hosts large potash deposits (MINDAT). This is a rare and most striking, water-clear gypsum crystal with outside blebs and inclusions of bright sulfur. The impressive, "smokestack" psuedohexagonal prism rests on a more tabular crystal. The termination and front are nearly pristine, which is excellent for such a soft mineral. The back is cleaved and the sides are partially bruised and cleaved. This is a rare very facinating and sculptural gypsum crystal from this uncommon locale from the Bob Trimingham Collection. A must for the species or locality collector. It has a shape that one normally does not associate with gypsum, and at first glance people would think is perhaps a beryl. Valued $500
