Item Description
Movable bubbles are an uncommon phenomena in Nature. One side of this sculptural cluster of intergrown transparent to translucent, striated to smooth gypsum prisms hosts a striking 2 mm movable bubble from the famous mines at Naica. The bubble moves about 1.2 cm within the gypsum crystal. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1118 and acquired from Scott Williams in the 1950s or 60s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). The locality information is partially incorrect on both the Williams and Robertson labels. RARE and exciting gypsum with a movable bubble from Naica.
